Iraq film ‘My Father’s Garden’ inspired by distinguished Persian poet Mowlana wins a top award from Canada Shorts Film Festival.
The movie directed by Shwan Attoof was named as one of the recipients of the Excellence Awards from the Canadian & International Short Film Fest.
Iraqi actor and director Attoof’s short is based on poems written by Persian poet Mowlana (Rumi).

‘My Father’s Garden’ is a religious allegory dealing with inner struggles with right and wrong.
The 2016 Canada Shorts: Canadian and International Short Film Festival strives to recognize quality filmmaking and offers awards to 100+ short films per season.
Previous awards given to ‘My Father’s Garden’ include the Exceptional Merit from the 2016 Depth of Field International Film Festival.

I wish more films would be made about Iranian poets. I have found them to be very beautiful poems. Persian poets are a hidden treasure, waiting to be discovered.
